Cottontail, Summer Moon

2022, Oil on Herringbone Linen
17 x 26 inches, unframed

What I am striving for is not an accurate representation of a particular place in nature, but an accurate account of feelings that are evoked within me. I struggled with this painting until I realized that the vision I am striving to capture is not about an outer place, but an inner state. I am no longer focused exclusively on capturing the light out there, but about capturing the light β€œin here.”
